C. t TUESDAY, APRIL 27, 1937 Kiwanians Endorse Nine Months School The Tryon Kiwanis club today passed a resolution endorsing a nine months school term for Tryon instead of an eight months term. Douglas S. Blois and W. A. Schilletter, officials of the Tryon- Saluda school district, addressed the club today noon and told of the need for an extended term in order to give the children the prop er amount of education. A schoo 1 election will be held in June. C. M. Eargle had charge of the pro gram. L. A. Avant brought greet ing from a former member, Dr. John Britten Clark, who he visited in Florida. Two new members* were admitted to the club, Rev.'D M. McGeachy and C. H. I£ihg of Columbus. Carroll P y Rogers made the presentation de-dress. Water Pipe Aid The WPA uhloaded today two of lff-inch sewerage pipe for the Town of Tryon. This pipe and the installation will not cost the town any money, Manager C. H. Helms stated today. The Town will do some hauling but all the labor, approximately 30 men,.will be paid by the Federal government. Today’s Headlines Risiner streams cover six states —Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wert Virginia, Virginia. Resi dents are alarmed. Dare county voted down liquor by a close vote Monday. Supreme Court hearing on Se curity Act expected soon. E. Perry Manville Opens General Insurance Agency E. Perry Manville, special agent of the Aetna Life Insurance Co., has opened a general insurance agency in Tryon to handle all forms of insurance including Life, Accident, Automobile, Fire and Surety Bonds. A double page advertisement in this issue of the Bulletin carries the announcement of the opening pf the new agency. Mr. Manville received his early training in the insurance busi ness in the Home Office of the Aetna Life Insurance Co., in Hartford, Conn., the “Insurance center of the nation.” Mr. Man ville came to Tryon two years ago from Charlotte ior his health, and he h?s been benefited so much by the climate, and is iso charmed with this section and its people that he has decided to make Tryon his permanent home. He has already joined the community in the support of many civic affairs. ' Scientist Lecture Thursday, April 29 Miss Margaret Murney Glenn, C. S. 8., o r Boston, Mass., will lecture on Christian Science at the George Vanderbilt Ball Room in Asheville on Thursday, April 29, at 8 p. m. The public is invited. Wesley Brotherhood will meet Thursday niyht at 7 o’clock. Rev. John A. Pinckney, chief speaker.
